MLB wants to be in bed with the big betting companies...
Well, as discussed often, this is what follows.
No surprise that a player is on leave. More will come in time. This is the result of the close connections with the betting companies.
(The immediate question one might ask - Was he really that bad in the playoffs last year?)















This outcome was as predictable as a sunset. My question is, how many others are we not even being told about in pro/collegiate sports? My bet (no pun intended) 100s.
I sent the following link to Paul on Friday, but did not receive a response: I get job postings from time to time and this one https://www.mlb.com/careers/opportunities?gh_jid=7078989 popped up. I was struck by the references to the Dominican Republic and the usefulness of Spanish fluency. I wasn't aware of the Ortiz situation until today when the Clase story broke. I wonder if a) Dominican players are generally disproportionately represented among investigatees (think Wander Franco), or b) if this is a tip-of-the-iceberg situation of Dominican players involved in gambling, or c) very simply that an MLB lawyer who covered that region just left or was promoted, and this ad is just for a replacement instead of them having to staff up …

not yet quite clear if Clase is also going to be left dangling.
and who knows how clarified it may ever be.
still haven't figured out how Ohtani was deemed unaware, uninvolved, innocent and victimized
despite anything known about his history of being a bettor.
Vegas has odds at 9 to 1 he gets suspended.
