They fought back, and just came up (10 feet, maybe) short. It was a well-fought series between two teams that are basically even right now.

and again I DO NOT miss the point

I understand that they're behind and that's a bit of a pain in the backside

but again

I regard it as a very minor pain.

the traditional baseball axiomatic calculation is that a team closes a lead by catching up at a rate of one game per week.

there are a lot of weeks to go

and the Yankee team is becoming more healthy and more complete.

an 8-game deficit is neither insignificant nor daunting two furlongs into the race

We've been celebrating Mother's Day, not watching the game, but I just heard that Volpe homered.

I'll enjoy this while it lasts...

Volpe is amazing hitting in the bottom of the order. I know this won't last, but for now, I'll say it's all because of me.

I'm sure Boone read my article. He knows that I am brilliant so he moved Volpe down in the order. He then showed the article to Volpe, who, now knowing he is hitting lower, realized that he can now hit like Babe Ruth.

Maybe?

(Ok, maybe not...)

Thank goodness Volpe's batting 7th so he doesn't feel any pressure!

(Paul, I'm never going to stop teasing you about this.)

is that a reference to your purported pitching prowess?

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.
