not much about which to complain.

Soto has looked pretty good at the plate, but he's starting to pale

in comparison to Volpe.

might be that Soto can't handle the pressure. he's still pretty young, but it's not reached the point where he needs to be put in the 9 hole

i was thinking along the same lines. i am pretty sure that he does have at least one option, if not more, remaining. if he goes hitless in another game or two, maybe we should send him to AAA to help him put the finishing touches on this major league hitting thing before we get into the heat of a pennant race

Boooooo!!!!!!

👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Would it really hurt to let him have another 5-7 pitches when he has an extra day off before his next start.

I agree with you on stretching out healthy starting pitchers, just not pitchers returning from injury like Nestor Cortes Jr, Carlos Rodon, and Luis Gil, and later this season, Gerrit Cole, after he returns.

Could've been a good game to have Beeter go 3 or 4 innings tonight. Instead, I'm guessing he and Gomez will start the next 2 games for SWB.

Looks like it will be another 5 and fly fir a NYY SP. But what can you expect when Gil's Spring line read: 5 games, 15.2IP. I just shake my head in disgust at that stat. Now, don't complain about burning the bullpen out, it's a self fulfilling prophecy.

I agree with you, except for when pitchers like Luis Gil are coming off of serious surgery (Tommy John) and as a result, it is imperative that they don't go beyond their pitch count, because you don't want to take any chances with them and risk re-injury, one that would require a SECOND Tommy John surgery that would cause the Yankees to lose him for another 1 to 2 years. So when guys are coming off serious surgery, it is important to protect them to prevent re-injury and to prevent them from spending another long stay on the Injured List. So in THIS case, Boone made the right move. Just to get him the W or to extend him…

Yankee offense is looking good! Now (Bottom 3rd), Gil needs to step up and pitch out of 1st and 2nd, no outs. Go Gil!

I think Gil's future will be much higher than a #5 starter. In fact, there are many MLB teams right now, that if he were on their team, he would be their ace #1 starter. The Yankees have the perfect fill-in until Cole is ready to return. The Yankees have an excellent chance of winning as many games that Gil starts as games they would win if Cole starts. Is Gil better than Cole? No way. Not yet, anyway. But like Cole, Gil gives the Yankees an excellent chance to win if he continues to give them quality starts like his start last night.
