Game Thread: NYY@ MIL (4/27/24)

***

The Yankees have dropped 7 of their last 12.

Aaron Judge Update after last night's game:

Aaron Judge went 0-for-4 with 2 more strikeouts. He is batting .178 on the season.

Since Opening Day 2023, Aaron Judge is batting .248. Yes, that includes BEFORE he injured his toe.

Since the toe injury, he's batting .222. We're now talking 84 games.

And he's getting worse, the more he plays. Since April 7, Aaron Judge is batting .162 with 2 homers - one coming, essentially, after he struck out, but a balk was called.

How can we not be concerned?

That was so weird. TWO CATCHERS as batterymates! And then you had 3 catchers all together. Jose Trevino pitching to Gary Sanchez (and giving up a double to him) with Austin Wells catching behind the plate. That hasn't happened too often, if at all, in baseball history

As I mentioned in my other post, this was a great opportunity for Jose Trevino to offer catcher defensive tips to Austin Wells, because this was a great way to evaluate him.....by pitching to him in a regular season Major League game situation.

Baseball needs a Mercy Rule. If you're up by more than twice the number of out remaining for the other team in regulation, the game is over.

ALTHOUGH....I do recall a game that the Yankees were losing 10-0 to the Boston Red Sox, and the Red Sox had Roger Clemens pitching for them, and the Yankees ended up winning that game 11-10.

Great to see offense from Verdugo. The clean-up spot in the lineup seems to be to his liking.

Actually, Craig Breslow is the Chief Baseball Officer of the Boston Red Sox. Theo Epstein returned as the senior adviser to the Red Sox and part-owner of Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Red Sox and also the Liverpool Football Club (what we Americans call "soccer") of the English Premier League, among other properties.

Judge would have had that hit over Grisham's head.

Clay Holmes should, by now, have finished showering

and gone on to a nice bubble bath
