I’m thankful for the memory of going to my first Yankees game.
It was Opening Day 2007 (I was seven years old) and I went down during the first inning to take a photo of my hero, Derek Jeter. When Jeter came up to bat, he hit a slow dribbler down the first baseline, and the bat boy picked up the ball. He handed it to Mayor Bloomberg who had thrown out the first pitch and was sitting up front on the first base side. I went over to his seats and asked for the ball, and to my surprise, one of Bloomberg’s security guys gave it to me! My family couldn’t believe I got the ball when I returned up to our seats. I still have the ball, saved in a case with my ticket from the game and the picture I took of Jeter before he hit the foul ball.
