*** Continuing my extensive summary of the candidates worthy of consideration for inclusion in Monument Park.
Here are the next ten candidates:
Hal Chase, 1B/Manager Spent 9 years in the organization. His career was marred by gambling accusations. Grade: 2
Jack Chesbro, P Member of the Hall Of Fame. He played 7 years as a Yankees. He won 41 games in 1904, still a single-season MLB Record. He ranks in the top 16 in WAR, ERA, Wins, WHIP, IP, K, BB/9, Starts, CG, and Shutouts. Grade: 6
Horace Clarke, 2B Spent 10 years with the Yankees during their lean years. Top 20 in Singles, Stolen Bases, and Defensive WAR Grade: 3
Roger Clemens, P (age 58) During his 6 years as a Yankees, he was a 2-time All-Star, 2 time World Series champ, and a Cy Young winner. He ranks in the top 25 in WAR, Wins, Winning Percentage, Strikeouts Per/9 Innings, Starts, and Strikeouts. On the other hand there is the steroids controversies. Grade: 6
Jerry Coleman, 2B/Announcer Played his entire 9-year career as a Yankees. Career was interrupted twice by war, and was one of the few MLB players to serve in both World War II and Korea. He was an All-Star, 4-time World Series winner, and a World Series MVP. After his career, he spent 7 years as a Yankees announcer. He is a Ford C Frick winner. Grade: 7
Joe Collins, 1B Spent his entire 10 year career with the Yankees. Won 6 World Series. Grade: 3
Earle Combs, OF/ Coach Member of the Hall Of Fame. Spent entire 12 year career with the Yankees. Won 3 World Series as a player and another 6 as a coach. Ranks in the top 20 in WAR, Batting Average, OBP, OPS, At Bats, Runs, Hits, Singles, Doubles, Triples, Total Bases, and Walks. Grade: 10
David Cone, P/Announcer (age 57) Played 6 years as Yankees. 2 time All-Star and 4 time World Series champ. He has been an announcer for 13 years. He is Top-20 in WAR, K/9, and Strikeouts. Grade: 7
Frank Crosetti, SS/Coach Played his entire 17 year career with the Yankees. He was a 2 time All-Star. He won 8 World Series as a player. He then coached the Yankees for 20 years during which he won nine additional World Series. He ranks in the top 25 in most offensive stats. No player in Yankees history was involved in more World Series teams. Grade: 10
Bucky Dent, SS/Manager (Age 68) He played for the Yankees for 6 years and managed them for two. He was a 2-time All-Star and won two World Series. He is a World Series MVP. (He also hit one of the most famous home runs in Yankees’ history) Grade: 3
