Quick Hit: Astros 9, Yankees 7

by Paul Semendinger

August 6, 2023

***

Carlos Rodon didn't last through the third inning.

This was a game the Astros seemed to want to give to the Yankees, but, polite as ever, the Yankees didn't accept. They didn't want to take what they didn't deserve.

In the four games with the Astros, the Yankees went 2-2.

The Yankees get the White Sox next. That's a good thing, the White Sox lose often. Their season has gone in the wrong direction as well.

And with the Red Sox losing, the Yankees remain out of the cellar.

Was only a matter of time before Rodon next injury. He is a starting pitcher that avg 105 innings a season, prior to 2023. Of course, the NYY gave him 162mm over 5 seasons. Makes sense. No?

Paul: I don't claim to be an expert but Rodon does not look right. I wonder if Cashman has made a $162 million dollar mistake on another injured pitcher. Montas redux?

It was on Prime, so didn't get a chance to watch it. But my notifications sent to me have me asking lots of questions.

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
