I think it's interesting that, because of the times, Guidry averaged about 1 1/2 more innings/start than Fried does, but Fried has about .25 more strikeouts per inning. We think of Guidry as a strikeout machine, and he was for his time, but again, that's how the game has changed. Pitchers max out on getting K's now, at the cost of going deeper into games.
