Volpe's slide was too close to overturn, DJ should've had a hit, and neither Boone or DJ did anything wrong. The umpires are soft. (Yanks lose 2-1.)

The umpiring today, to my eye, gets worse every year. Manfred, MLB, & the MLBPA each refuse to do anything about it, each in their own way. If I was commissioner for a day, I's overhaul the how the umpires do their jobs, in both in the Majors and the Minors. All full season leagues would get 4 man crews, Rookie leagues would get 3 man crews. Since we have ratings and data for how umpires do their jobs either behind the plate or on the bases, or, even handle player/coach interactions, umpires would lose their jobs at the end of the season. At the ASB, umpires could be demoted, no matter the seniority. Yes, I have a furt…

this is more than the umpiring being bad. bad is one thing. that means you are equally bad for both teams. bad is still not good, but bad for both teams is probably mildly acceptable

but Judge has been the victim of more bad calls than ANY player in MLB for the entire length of his career. can you imagine the NBA allowing Jordan or LeBron to have their career and legacy harmed by bad calls on a near nightly basis? Tom Brady pretty much won his last Super Bowl with a whole playoff run full of calls in his favor

Judge is one of the top handful of moneymakers in the game and they allow him to be penalized…
