The Yankees lost 3-2 this afternoon. In their last three loses, the Yankees have lost by just one run. But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

No Tweet (X) today.

sorry.

I think fuster asked somewhere about the 10 one-run games and how many runs the Yankees scored in each. In the 7 losses, it was 2 (twice), 3 (twice), and 4 (thrice). In the 3 wins, it was 1, and 4 (twice). So fuster is right, IIRC, that the problem in the one-run games is with the hitting. That is to say, they're not losing 8-7 or 7-6, but rather 3-2, 4-3 and 5-4.

first off Fuster should probably be insulted that you get him confused with me!!

thanks for doing the stats on how many games we score how many runs! clearly the hitters are trying to get a hit every AB, right? i do believe it

so there is probably no way for the hitters to try extra hard to make the days that we score a little happen ONLY when Fried or Rodon start I guess

and thereby always score at least 4 and preferably more on the days started by any other

how's Rodon doing?

seems to me that he's progressing well.

seems as though we should expect that if Schmidt is healthy and remains heathy he'll be a great improvement over Stroman.

might even turn out that Gil will return and prove to be a great improvement over Carrasco.

seems to me that Will Warren might turn out to not at all be an improvement over Cole.

More and more this is becoming true...

2025 Yankees : 19-14

2025 Yankees when Max Fried Starts = 7-0

All Other Games = 12-14

When Max fried doesn't pitch, this is not a good team.

Granted, Max Fried's games count. I get it, but the signs are there for trouble.

this would be no twist at all from me. I have been saying it almost all year. many of the losses come in games when the bats dont get it done

YES we need another starter. two would be better!! but cant the team see that too? I mean on a day when we start our #what starter?? 11? maybe we should expect we might need more than 2 runs. i would say even expect to need more than 4. on top of that the other team did not exactly start Nolan Ryan. the pitchers had a successful day, even Leiter who did not give up one single well hit ball (perhaps Leiter is the one pitcher who…

a horse grenade loss.

Schmidt was scratched. Yarbrough filled in admirably.

the Rollers did little right other than running the bases well. Wells could catch none of eight.

Volpe was shaken up but bestirred himself to stay in the game, but was a little shaky when rushing in an attempt at a double play.

the Yankees had the long ball, but failed to do some of the little things.

it goes that way sometimes

if neither Schmidt nor Volpe goes on the IL, it was merely a slightly annoying afternoon.
