The Yanks sent a message last night, BUT...

The Astros sent a louder message to the Yankees tonight by coming back from 3-0 and 4-1 to defeat the Yankees 8-7.

This was as sloppy as it gets. With the score tied 4-4 heading to the bottom of the eighth, Devin Williams walked a bunch of players. He got thrown out. Aaron Boone then got thrown out. Then there was also a balk and a wild pitch.

The Yankees answered in the 9th, with a Ryan McMahon single, an Aaron Judge single, and a Cody Bellinger homer. But Jazz Chisholm then took strike three to end the game.

Astros 8, Yankees 7

Full recap in the morning from me.

Who are these nicknames referring to. I assume Volpe is one of them. I would have expected Wells to be another but he got three hits yesterday. McMahone- he qualifies but he did get a hit in the ninth and scored on Bellinger's homer. We dont need nicknames. Just announce who these guys are who have such low OBP and terrible in the clutch.

No, it's the pitchers whom I've nicknamed for the Three Stooges: Doval (Doe), Bednar (Narry), Bird (Birly),and Williams (Shemp). I've retired Bednar's nickname for the time being because of his much-improved performance. Bird, of course, is in Triple A trying to learn how to pitch at sea level. The other two are clowns who need to be called out as such.

I felt the turning point was when Boone took out Warren when he threw only 67 pitches. This one is on Boone. Boone blew the game and of course the bullpen didn't help either.

the Warren removal was entirely reasonable.

the kid did OK twice through the Astros order, but Pena give evidence that the third time 'round might be a little different.

next guy up was to be Alvarez, and Warren hadn't been able to get him out.

lifting Warren was right.

the replacements were rested and ready

and failed to protect the lead.

1-7 RISP. Two-Stooge effort from Shemp and Doe. This is the same group of gutless chokers who have now again gone .500 since May 28, 42-42. Fire Cashman and Boone now.
