Quick Hit: Yanks Get 2 In 9th To Walk-Off With A Win

May 3, 2024

***

Sorry for the delay, I was at my own game. (We lost. I pitched out of the pen, 3 innings, 2 hits, 2 unearned runs, no walks, 1 strikeout.)

The team that matters more (I guess), the Yankees, won in walk-off fashion.

Mike Whiteman will have the game summary in the morning.

THANK YOU MIKE!

Inspiring 9th inning rally obscures 8 innings of futility. This got a win tonight, but it is not a sustainable model. Still looks like a .500 team to me.

Replying to

holding the other team to a single run/game probably is not sustainable over the course of 162 games.

think that the lowest team ERA for the Yankees in the past 60 years was ~ 2.8

of course, a season's worth of baseball games holds our interest, in good measure, precisely because of the great variety presented within the confines of the rules and

despite the very limited number of outcomes

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
