Quick Hit: Yanks Win in 11

Sept. 11, 2024

***

It took eleven innings... these extra-inning games are long and not so much fun.

I greatly dislike the imaginary runner. The Whiffle Ball games in my backyard as a kid were more serious than these ghost runners in the big leagues.

The Yankees continue to struggle to win games. They continually struggle to score runs.

And yet, they scored a run in the 11th and won the game.

Full recap from Ethan at 6:00 a.m.

Should be quite a showdown with the Boston Red Sox the next 4 days. Both the Yankees AND the Red Sox won tonight by virtue of a WALKOFF in EXTRA INNINGS. So both teams are coming into these next 4 games with a "high".

Yankees should have won this game in regulation, but for Holmes and his 12th Blown Save.

I would pay money to watch him get reamed out by Boone or Cashman, or anyone on the Yankees for that matter. He's a disgrace and should not be let into the same zipcode as a close game.

I never said he isn't a completely decent person. He's a disgrace as a Major League pitcher.

Why did Boone put in Clay Holmes in the 7th inning. I knew once he came in he was going to blow the lead. He can't hold a lead whatsoever in high level situations. Especially we just took the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning on a big home run by Soto. We needed that shutdown inning.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, "Because Boone is an imbecile."

Now, Cashman can't get a new arm up here unless he DFAs Mayza for tomorrow. But almost everyone pitched tonight for AAA, so are we really ready for Bickford III?

Yes, on rehab. It is just a matter of when he is ready. When he is ready, he would be a great choice to bring up. Same with Poteet when HE is ready.

it wasn't so much that they scored a run in the 11th

it was more that the Yankees pitcher throttled the Royals and kept THEM from scoring in the 11th

"Dream Weaver" did his job, and the Royals didn't by not, at the very least, hitting 2 sacrifices.
