One step up…and two steps back. This season feels like the old Springsteen song.
For those who had the misfortune of watching the Yankees do their impression of the 1906 White Sox (the "Hitless Wonders"), at least you were not, as I was, at Citi Field to watch the Mets give up three touchdowns to the Braves, scoring only a garbage-time field goal. Still, I was under the overhang, so I wasn't in either the burning sun or the drenching rain, and any time I spend with my seventh-grade batterymate (next month we'll have known each other fifty years) is time well spent.
I have Alcantara on my fantasy team and he has stunk out the joint all season. I couldn't give him away in trade. Of course, I made sure I started him today and was rewarded accordingly.
