There are now 16 teams in Major League Baseball with better records than the Yankees. The Diamondbacks (at .500) have the same record as the Yankees. The Yankees have a better record than only 12 teams.
The Yankees, the last place Yankees, are now 3 1/2 games behind the 4th place Red Sox.
If the Yankees were in the American League Central division, they'd be in second place. The nonsense about, "They'd be a first place team there" is not accurate any longer.
The Yankees are now 6 1/2 games out in the Wild Card standings.
The Yankees are 15-24 since July 1.
The Yankees are 60-60 on the season, but they are 8-1 combined against the A's and the Royals. That means that against the rest of the league(s), they are 52-59.
On June 4, the Yankees were 36-25. Since then they have gone 24-35.
The following 2023 Yankees have (or had) an OPS+ under league average (100):
Kyle Higashioka
Anthony Rizzo
Anthony Volpe
D.J. LeMahieu
Isiah Kiner-Falefa
Harrison Bader
Giancarlo Stanton
Oswaldo Cabrera
Jose Trevino
Willie Calhoun
John Donaldson
Aaron Hicks
Franchie Cordero
Oswald Peraza
Ben Rortvedt
Greg Allen
Aaron Hicks' OPS+ with the Orioles is 122.
The Yankees have one starting pitcher (Gerrit Cole) with an ERA+ over 100 (league average).
The Yankees' record when they hired broadcaster Sean Casey to be the new hitting coach was 49-42. Since that hire, they have gone 11-18.
Only July 10, Anthony Volpe was batting .216. Since Casey was hired, Volpe has batted .200 and is now at .212 for the season.
On July 10, Giancarlo Stanton was batting .203. He is still batting .203.
This from @Katie Sharp - The Yankees have 19 walk-off loses since the start on 2022. That's the most in baseball.
