The Tuesday Discussion – Our Own NY Yankees New Year’s Resolutions
We asked our writers:
What is your personal Yankees New Year’s Resolution?
They shared their answers…
Ed Botti – I doubt I will be able to do so, but my resolution will be to complain less about the lack of bunting, stolen bases and hit & run plays. Also, I will attempt to not get angry when starting pitchers are taken out of quality starts before 120 pitches, and when they put the shift on 25 times a game. Lastly, I will try not to kick my TV every time “Launch Angle” is referenced by Michael Kay, Bob Lorenz and Meredith Marakovits and I will also try to listen even harder when Ken Singleton talks about hitting and baseball strategy. Lastly, I will savor every inning John Sterling calls on the radio, because we don’t know how many more years he will be doing so!!
Mike Whiteman – My Yankees New Year’s Resolution is to not hold a grudge against Brian Cashman for not signing Didi Gregorius…though if I must watch him rakes for the Phillies all 2020 season (I live in PA) I make no guarantees!
Tamar Chalker – My resolution is to watch more games next year. I was able to start getting my girlfriend into baseball during the playoffs last year, so that should help.
Patrick Gunn – My Yankees New Year’s Resolution is to try and enjoy this season of baseball while remaining thoughtful. I feel like it is too easy to be negative about one bad game or one bad week when that form of harsh, negative criticism might not be warranted. That does not mean that I want to just write positive things for the sake of writing favorable stories, but more look at each game as a part of a whole, long season. Also, I would like to keep writing analysis driven pieces about the Yankees and Major League Baseball.
Derek McAdam – My personal goal for 2020 season is to attend my first ever Yankee game(s). I live in Virginia, and have never gotten the opportunity to travel to see my favorite team. My goal is to attend at least one game of each series in Baltimore this upcoming season. So far, I will be attending the June 30-July 1 games, but hopefully I can get more games under my belt.
John Nocero – My personal Yankees resolution is to be a better and smarter fan in 2020 than I was in 2019. To do this I will listen to all Yankees pre- and post-game shows, watch all the games, read as much as I can and listen to people that are much smarter than I am.
Paul Semendinger – My Yankees resolution is to enjoy the ride. I just like watching the Yankees win, losing is just no fun, but we all know that even the best teams lose about sixty games. Each loss is not a tragedy…right?
