This week we asked some quick and simple questions of our writers:

Are you interested in the World Series this year?  Will you be watching?  Who are you rooting for?

Here are their responses:

***

Paul Semendinger - I spend so much time invested in the Yankees that once they're out of it, I don't watch any more baseball. I will not be watching the World Series. (I wish I had watched the Ohtani game in the NLDS game. I missed a great one there.) I have so little time, I just cannot give any of it to watching games other than the Yankees. I now can also go to sleep earlier, which is also necessary.

In the World Series, I am rooting for the Dodgers (from afar). I want the Dodgers to win with the hope that the Yankees follow the Dodgers' model (which is how the Yankees used to operate). The Yankees of today need to emulate the Dodgers. I hope they do. Soon.

That being said... Don Mattingly will be part of his first World Series. I would love to see Donnie Baseball being part of the winning team!

***

Lincoln Mitchell - I am interested in the World Series and will try to watch some of it. As a Giants fan, I will be rooting for whoever plays against the Dodgers.

***

Cary Greene - At this point, I will not be watching the World Series this year - mainly because I don't have interest in the teams involved. The Dodgers are easily the best team going right now and they'll be heavy favorites to win another championship. Like it or not, we're watching baseball's next super team be the dynasty that they have become.

***

Tim Kabel - I will not be watching the World Series, although I may peek at it from time to time. It is simply too frustrating for me as I contemplate the Yankees’ inability to be there. If it is the Mariners, I would like them to win. If it is the Blue Jays, I don’t know if there is a lesser of the two evils.

***

Tamar Chalker - If the Mariners make it - absolutely. If it’s Dodgers v Blue Jays - maybe.

***

Derek McAdam - Once the Yankees are eliminated, I lose all interest in the playoffs. However, I would prefer if either the Mariners or Blue Jays defeat the Dodgers. But I won’t lose sleep over the ultimate outcome.

As much as I am a baseball fan, I have to say, no I will not be watching. The only way this WS could have been worse is if the sux would have made it. Three teams I can’t stand…them, LA and Toronto. So, no. I will focus on the Giants (barf) and hopefully the KNICKS will give me something to cheer about…NYC’s only real shot at a championship anytime soon.

With the Yankees eliminated I've moved on to other things.

Believe it or not the Blue jays have a shot because they have home field advantage. I could care less who wins the world series TBH. I'm glad Donnie baseball is participating in his first WS.

I am a baseball fan so of course I will watch. No more games this season after the Series. As for rooting for either team….that is like choosing between Hitler and Stalin.

in general I stop watching when my team is out

beyond that, once the Yankees were out I was hoping for the brewers or phillies to win. that said, the brewers winning would have been the most awful thing that could ever happen to Yankees fans. that would have been more than all the excuse Hal and BC needed to justify continued mismanagement of the greatest team in baseball history

Phillie is a different story. they are not as aggressive as LAD they are not matching that budget but they are not penny pinchers like Hal and Dave D is ALWAYS going all in!! at the deadline they did not shop in the bargain area they just went out a…

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
