Over the next many months, I am going to review the credentials of several former Yankees and highlighting their careers. Many of their accomplishments have been forgotten. Even if some are not future Hall of Famers, it's good to remember what they did accomplish.
Together, we can discuss if we believe that they are deserving of being included in the Hall Of Fame or not. I hope you read along and give me your opinions.
Today we are going to be looking at...
Bob Meusel...
Played 11 seasons, the first 10 were with the Yankees.
He had a WAR of 28.4.
He was on three World Series teams.
He had 100+ RBIs five times,
Scored 100+ Runs twice
Had 300+ Total Bases twice.
He is one of six players that hit for three cycles.
Context matters - at the time of his retirement, he ranked 9th all time in HRs, 30th in RBIs, and 101st in hits.
He was on the ballot 11 times, never exceeding 10 votes, but once garnering more votes than 26 future Hall Of Famers.
