Over the next many months, I am going to review the credentials of several former Yankees and highlighting their careers. Many of their accomplishments have been forgotten. Even if some are not future Hall of Famers, it's good to remember what they did accomplish.
Together, we can discuss if we believe that they are deserving of being included in the Hall Of Fame or not. I hope you read along and give me your opinions.
Today we are going to be looking at...
Red Rolfe...
Played his entire ten year career with the Yankees.
He had 29.1 WAR in his career and two seasons of 5.0+.
He had seven consecutive years with 100+ runs scored.
For his career, he averaged 130 runs per 162 games played.
He was a four time all star and won five World Series.
For decades, he was considered the greatest third baseman in Yankees history.
He later managed the Tigers for four seasons going 278-256.
In 1950, his first year on the ballot he got 4.2% of the vote, good for 35th place...on a ballot that included 48 future Hall Of Famers.
By 1962, he only got one vote and was removed from the ballot.
