Earlier this week we asked our writers to share their favorite Yankees trivia question. WE are running these questions over the next several days.
Name the very first member of the Yankees franchise (dating back to 1903) to have been a Major League leader in home runs for a single season.
Answer...
Tim Jordan.
He played two games for the 1903 Highlanders. In 1906, he played with with Brooklyn. That year he hit 12 homers to lead the National League.
(Note - I just "discovered" this fact by looking at old Yankees rosters. I am confident that the question and the answer is correct, but I welcome other information if this is not correct.)

Who was the first player to lead MLB in homers as a Yankee? (He tied with two other NL players.)
I would have guessed Home Run Baker (I mean, he has "Home Run" in his name!). But he only led the AL (never MLB) and that was with the A's.
The answer is Wally Pipp with 12 in 1916. (Highlight the sentence to reveal the answer.)
