Ottavino and a prospect are going to the #RedSox and Bos is taking most of the money. #Yankees @lindseyadler 1st that he had been traded — Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) January 25, 2021
Ottavino is due $8M this year. Counts $9M for luxury tax purposes. So getting out of most of it gives the NYY more maneuverability to try to go for more SP, another RP, LH bat or SS depth. Gave up prospect to get out of most of the $ and create flexibility. — Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) January 25, 2021
No $ changing hands so Red Sox will pay Ottavino the $11M to go on his deal. Frees cash for Yanks to add a different player, likely a pitcher. — Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) January 25, 2021
Source says MiLB Pitcher Frank German (no relation to Domingo) headed to Boston with Otto…. — Talkin’ Jake (@TalkinJake) January 25, 2021
The Yankees are kicking in $850,000 into the Ottavino trade. — Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) January 25, 2021
