Breaking News: Yankees trading Adam Ottavino to the…Red Sox???
First reported by Lindsey Adler of The Athletic, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox have made a trade to send RHP reliever Adam Ottavino to Boston. Joel Sherman indicates the Red Sox will be eating his salary. Talkin’ Jake noted prospect Frank German will be joining Ottavino in a trip north. And, Buster Olney has conflicted saying the Yankees will eat $850K.

Ottavino is due $8M this year. Counts $9M for luxury tax purposes. So getting out of most of it gives the NYY more maneuverability to try to go for more SP, another RP, LH bat or SS depth.
