Lindy McDaniel, who pitched for the Yankees form 1968 to 1973 passed away on November 16, 2020.
Over six seasons McDaniel appeared in 265 games and put up a record of 39-29, 2.89 as a Yankee. McDaniel saved 58 games for the Yankees.
Forgotten by many today, McDaniel was a long-time Major Leaguer. He appeared in a grand total of 987 games, which, at the time of his retirement was second all-time (to Hoyt Wilhelm). (McDaniel is now in 17th place all-time.)
Lindy McDaniel pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and Kansas City Royals in addition to the Yankees.
It was Lindy McDaniel who was traded by the Yankees for Lou Piniella.
