Rodon was not prefect for sure, BUT he could have gotten deeper into the game if he had any luck at all in the 5th

one bad thought and one good

the bad

after I have been praising Volpe for seeing more pitches. Jdom opens the top of 8 with a BB. Volpe swings at the first pitch and hits a weak grounder for a GIDP

after the BB, would have like to see him take a pitch. AND also give Jdom a chance to steal 2b and get into scoring position

the good

people I do not care what happens the rest of the way. getting to watch Goldy every day, he is such a good good player!! I will always be a Goldy fan

and it does make me a bit sad that the first thing so many people say about Goldy is…

your point about rosters is extremely valid!! and that could make it impossible for sure.

on the other hand, there will be very minimal need for changes to this roster next year. they will have 6 starters locked up. i believe they will have at least 4 very good bullpen arms. SS, 2b, 3b are locked up. they have 3 catchers and 2 of 3 OF with good options for the 3rd

depending on HOW they choose to handle 1b and C, Rice and Goldy could be more or less 1/2 time 1b. I still would NOT sit Goldy vs every RHP. his defense is too good. look at his BA vs RHP and look at other starters. i…

This Bednar guy might be a good set-up man for Williams.

Williams can come in when the starter cannot get out of the 5th

or for some mop ups

we have Weaver and Hill and Doval and Bednar

Cruz coming back

Leiter can come in and get a tough out in the 5, 6, or 7
