Game #121: Toronto (64-54) vs New York (73-47)

Odd Men Out: Hicks, Florial, and Higy

It seems Hicks has been benched for Florial who has been benched for Cabrera.

Boone adjusts the lineup -- but it's not the order, it's the players.

Exclusive content for SSTN Readers here, if things stay on current pace - the final AL East Standings will look as below. Keep in mind, one win here or there will likely mean the Division crown. It's coming down to the Yankees and Orioles folks. The Blue Jays are right there too. Tampa just doesn't seem capable of consistent baseball lately. If ANY of these teams gets hot, look out, they could win the Division. Chart based on each team's winning percentages since July 1st and factoring in remaining SOS/Number of Games Remaining (using SABR Table 7 to calculate each team's projected winning percentage, then using that winning percentage to determine how the team will finish over their remaining 41…

Think about this, if they blow it this year, Cashman will have been at the helm for the two biggest chokes in franchise history, 2004 and 2022.

All things being equal... seriously... if you were Aaron Judge, why would you want to return?

I'm not sure that the Yankees offering him the money he wants indicates that they want to win.

It would indicate that they want to keep him, but it would not indicate that they want to win.

What would indicate that they want to win would be to see them go all-in 100% when they've had the chance. Judge never saw that.

He might say, "If I eat up 25% of the salary toward the luxury tax, and the Yankees don't want to exceed it, then I won't be surrounded by stars."

That's sort of what happened to A-Rod in Texas. They just couldn't or wouldn't put quality players around him.
