Paul I can’t help but think if the Yanks went all in and signed Bellinger and an another top tier starter how great this team could be. Time will tell

Suppose Bellinger cost $20 million more plus luxury tax, which he does? Dollar for dollar, Verdugo is the MUCH better option.

Soto is terrific ballplayer and the Yanks are lucky to have him

Sorry, I misread your comment. I agree it's another winning aspect of trading for Soto. If you keep him, it doesn't cost a draft pick, and if you lose him, well, at least you get the draft pick.

Taking nothing away from this great accomplishment from what I think is the best team the Yankees have had in the last 10 years, I also think that the Houston Astros are overrated. The Astros peaked when they won their last World Series against Philadelphia 2 years ago, and last year, they began a downward trend that is continuing this year. The Yankees 4 game sweep just now, and the 3 game sweep by a flawed Yankee team with a lot of minor league callups late last season is no fluke. All season long last year, against their OTHER opponents, the Astros did not look like the great teams they had (cheat or no cheat) over the previous 8 yea…

Just like Don "Stan The Man Unusual" Stanhouse of those great Baltimore Orioles teams of the 1970's and early 1980's. Stanhouse's other nickname was "Two Pack" because his manager Earl Weaver used to go through "two packs" of cigarettes while he was pitching in relief.
