At least for now, the Yankees have SOLE POSSESSION of first place.

True, but every win that is coupled with a division rival's loss or inactivity (rain out) counts because just that one win and rival's loss could mean the difference in late September between first place and second place, which means a big difference in favorable post season matchups and home field advantages.

Got a question, hopefully someone here has the answer:

Why did MLB get rid of saying Rodón went 6+, and in the box score say... Rodón pitcher to 1 batter in the 7th inning?

Yes, but neither is reported in the box score. There used to be a line that would say, "Rodon pitched to one batter in the 7th." No more. Look at the boxscore on MLB.com, and you'll see what I mean: https://www.mlb.com/gameday/yankees-vs-twins/2024/05/14/745909/final/box

As long as the Yankees hold on and win this one, and I think they will, they will gain a 1/2 game on the Baltimore Orioles and be in sole possession of First Place. The Toronto Flu Jays and the Baltimore Orioles were rained out in Baltimore, and their make-up game won't be until July 29.

Foolish of Boone to leave Rodon in to start the 7th. Now Hamilton -- heaven help us -- won't have a clean inning to start with.

Especially when Hamilton gave up a hit almost immediately.
