for those who maintain that the Yankees seriously STINK when they are forced to face top shelf pitching:

I really wish somebody would keep a running spreadsheet on this for the year, but it will not be me.

we have played 5 games so far. in 3 of the 5, I think it is safe to say we have faced good to very good pitching. I guess we can debate if Luis Castillo fits that category or not. Robbie Ray probably does not fit that. he had one great year and he has definitely had some moments vs the Yanks, but he probably falls more into the solid group of starters now more than the good or very good

Castillo…

after 5 games, the Yankees have 4 wins

3 shut-out victories

and 1 win in which they allowed 1 run

they also played a game in which they allowed 2 runs and lost because they scored but 1 run.

5 games over the course of which they allowed a total of 3 runs

it's nothing more than the very beginning of the season, but it aint a bad beginning

Replying to

I'd be ok with 129 wins and a team ERA of 0.61.

Nice start by Fried, even if his WHIP went all the way up to 0.525.

Stanton 1.315 OPS. He's batting .526 and slugging .789. Insane. Please stay healthy!

but, in addition to Stanton getting 300 hits,

is he going to steal 30 bags?

THAT is the perfect example of a VERY POORLY used challenge! 4th inning, TWO outs, and not a sole on the bases. likely need 2 hits to score if you do get on and you have the bottom third of the lineup coming up

just SILLY! my expectation is that Jazz is one of the players who should likely not have the power to challenge, but he may not respond well if someone tried to tell him that
