Remember the old Oriole fireman Dan Stanhouse? Holmes is our version, 40+ years later 😃

yeah, if I was already waist-deep in the muck

with a runner on second and nobody out, I would strongly consider setting up a force

on the bases and play for the ground ball

if my best pitch was a sinker

I figure that it's the best chance to prevent the first run from crossing

despite assuming the risk of two

8 innings, 1 run allowed on 2 hits, with 2 walks and 9 Ks

meets my criteria for a quality start

8 gorgeous inning from Gil. I take him out now, bring in Kahnle for the save.

Six innings, 8 LOB, 1 BSDP, 1-for-7 RISP. This bodes ill once Gil is taken out.

Nine runners are useless if you have 8 LOB and a GIDP.
