We're getting Green Monstered. King has got to be better than this.

With Schmidt struggling in the fifth, I was curious as to how Jameson Taillon, whom the Yankees pointedly did not sign in the off-season, was doing. -0.8 WAR, 6.70 ERA, 67 ERA+, 1.510 WHIP. We can complain about roster construction by Cashman, but here was a great non-move he made.

Lead-off double and nothing, particularly thanks to Stanton striking out again. Boone should switch him in the lineup with McKinney, who is substantially out-hitting and out-slugging Stanton.

It was interesting to hear Michael Kay say during the broadcast (and this is the general quote not word-for-word):

Calhoun and Bauers have looked good with the bat, but both have played poor defensively. And it has hurt the Yankees.

This, again, goes to the bigger point - the Yankees have tried to address left field by cutting corners and going to the scrap heap.

Usually when you cut corners, you end up also doing a less quality job.

This is my frustration with the Yankees these last many years. They try to cut corners and it ends up hurting them.

OK - name the deadline deal. Also the deadline is something like 6 weeks away. By that time the season my be toast. There's no guarantee that either Dominguez and Pereira will be ready to make the team let alone make big contributions next season. They could struggle just as much as Volpe has this season. Meanwhile Judge.and Cole will just be getting older.

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
