Please don't score that as a hit

So by Kay's logic if a batter gets hit in the helmet with a pitch he should not be awarded first base?

Volpe's strength is stealing bases.

Why does he seem so unsure of himself on base lately?

Respondendo a

the WHY should be obvious.

the goal of getting Stanton to BE hitting is an important one.

Stanton has been a streaky hitter...with periods when he is utterly cold, and then, periods where he hits everything hard and far and buoys the entire team.

getting Stanton going well is FAR more important than is getting Volpe to swipe a base, at a time where the base isn't really needed.

when we discuss the desirability of getting the offense into gear, getting Stanton into Hulk mode is more likely to contribute to that than is sending Volpe toward second base.
