I noticed a pattern with Aaron Boone. He always likes to sit key players the DAY BEFORE and the DAY AFTER a scheduled off day. I guess the idea behind it is to give that key player TWO CONSECUTIVE DAYS OFF. However, I am not crazy how it weakens the offense on those days before and after a team day off.

POSITIVE TAKEAWAY: Marcus Stroman was terrific! He is definitely going to be one of the pillars of this starting rotation this season.

With the loss of Loáisiga, and with the performance of Holmes in the 9th inning so far, I definitely want to see the Yankees pick up players who will improve their bullpen. Not "parts" like Jake Cousins, JT Brubaker, Caleb Ferguson, etc, but HIGH LEVERAGE guys for late in the game. Guys like Emmanuel Clase or Kenley Jansen if the Guardians or the Red Sox were to make those players available (I doubt the Red Sox would trade Jansen to the Yankees like they did with Verdugo, though), or anyone else who can successfully fill late inning reli…

It depends on that pitcher's current salary. Someone like Emmanuel Clase hasn't hit free agency yet, so he is not making as much as the big time relievers who signed megabuck free agent contracts, not yet, anyway. And whatever he is making would be offset by the salary of the player they have to DFA to make room for him.

Three players are hitting Soto Volpe and Oswaldo Cabrera. The rest no. So Today Cabrera sits and Berti plays 3rd base and contributes nothing. Stroman again is the only starter to go six innings and was terrific. Hope this is just one of those games but more players have to start contributing to the offense

Is this the same team that swept Houston?

Same team, but much different weather conditions. They are not sweating in a domed stadium in a "warm weather" (in the spring) city like Houston, or in the warm Arizona climate, in another dome, all after spending a month in the warm Florida sun. Now, they are playing in 50 degree chill, so that COULD have an effect on the hitters.
