Game 82: NYY (52-29) vs NYM (38-39)

Can the Yankees stop this slide?? Will be difficult with thir current, active roster.

Clean-up hitter: Has played one one game in past 10 days.

#5 hitter: In an 0-18 (maybe more) slump

#6 hitter: Batting .174 w/o no XBH

How bad is the pitching? They just lost a game in which Soto & Judge both hit HRs and they had 6 RBIs

Yankees need a HUGE bounce back by Gil

Torres sits!!!!! (resting his groin injury!!!)

INTERESTING TRADE RUMOR: I just read a trade rumor that the Yankees may be interested in a trade with the Colorado Rockies for their catcher Elias Diaz, a noteworthy offensive player having a stellar season with a .303/.352/.439 slash line and a .791 OPS over 55 games. Diaz excels in both framing and throwing out runners, making him an attractive option for the Yankees.

General Manager Brian Cashman might leverage this opportunity to engage in a major trade involving Diaz and Rockies’ third baseman Ryan McMahon, addressing two needs in one move. The Yankees would likely have to surrender Spencer Jones and other top prospects to make this happen.

YES that is my preference too!!! but it feels like they are NOT going to do that this year. if that is the case, Diaz is WAY WAY BETTER then Trevy on both sides of the ball and he makes us better AND he makes us better vs LHP, which is totally KILLING us the last 10 days!!

so if they will not start Wells and leave him alone then get Diaz as a rental for this year and hope they give the job to Wells next year or whichever one of our young catchers they trust most and trade some of the others for other players who could help soon!!

I'm gonna go out on a limb, they will be making some bullpen moves pretty soon.

i am NOT trying to say that i have watched all the games. i have had to work a lot of nights lately and not seen a lot of games. so i cannot say how often this scenario has played out

Volpe last AB was the first one i saw. first 2 pitches were called strikes. he offered at neither (obviously that is why they were called) now in an 0-2 hole he ends up with a K

was he TRYING to take pitches? has this been happening with any regularity in the last few weeks? it is TOUGH to take pitches if the opponent is looking to constantly start the AB 0-1

again i have not seen enough to…

the point i was making, was that, at least, in this AB, he took pitch 1 and pitch 2. what did that get him? it got him an 0-2 hole.

now we have all seen Judge for years and Soto, this year or always if you paid a lot of attention to non Yankees, get down 0-2 and come back and get a walk or MANY times work the count to full. Volpe is NOT going to get those type of walks this year, IF EVER. unlike those 2, he is going to swing his way out of or into more trouble. Judge, Soto, Rickey and others who would be considered typical leadoff hitters did and do take close pitch…

I want the Yankees to hire YOU to run the Yankees minor league system and hire the right coaches, preach the right hitting and pitching philosophies, and make all the right player promotion decisions.

"One-a-Day" is supposed to be a vitamin, not a GIDP aspiration.
