How the Yankees Can Keep the Success Coming

By Derek McAdam

The New York Yankees have won six in a row, including a series sweep against the Chicago White Sox. While the Yankees have been the hottest team over the past month, Tampa Bay has been the hottest team over the past two weeks, putting the Yankees in 3rd place in the AL East.

New York is set for three games against Toronto at home and will hit the road for three against Detroit. How will the Yankees be able to continue their success against these two teams in the upcoming week?

While the starting pitching is not expected to keep its 35 straight scoreless innings streak alive, they need to give the Yankees good innings. It would be better to see seven strong innings in which a pitcher allows two runs than four innings of scoreless baseball as the final lines.

The offense has not been where the Yankees want them to be, which is something that needs to come alive this week. The pitching cannot be expected to bail out the offense for another week, which is where the offense needs to come into play. If the offense can get going, the Yankees will see more wins come their way.

While all of these statements seem fairly simple and obvious, the Yankees want to continue to perform well. It is getting close to the point where the standings become relevant and New York does not want to fall behind. After all, it seems like it is going to be a challenging season in the division.

No, the Yankees are not expecting another no-hitter. No, another triple-play may not be in the works. But the Yankees are expecting to have another week with a winning record. It will be determined soon if that is what occurs.

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
