QH: Angels 4, Yankees 3

The Yanks had 9 hits.

They also had a solid start from Nestor Cortes.

But Anthony Rizzo made a big error... and they blew the game.

I think the Yankees have to do some serious self-scouting of SWB (AAA) 1B T.J. Rumfield. Is his D as good as advertised? Can they somehow keep his average up while tapping into his lefty power? Or do they have to look at Ben Rice, Augustin Ramirez, or even Tyler Hardman? In '22-'23, LeMahieu had a 103 OPS+. Rizzo's OPS+ for 2024 is 93, and in particular, he has a l/r OPS split of .439 and .765, so that argues strongly for DJ platooning with Rizzo at 1B. That would leave Cabrera at 3B vs. lefties, but with a .632 OPS, he's better against lefties than Rizzo this year.

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
