As bad as last night was and it was a disaster the one thought I had was where was Slater?..... he certainly wasn't in RF in the Ninth! However, remember it was only ONE GAME!
that was a game so badly bungled that it could not be seen to be believable.
had some hapless hack scripted it, the director wouldn't have dared to direct it be enacted.
it blew
past tragedy and went fully farcical
there can be no second time.
Still, its part of not going all in and getting the best. They did that with Bednar, but the others were pitchers that they saw something in their analytics and decided they could fix. A second reliever having a better than average season would have been nice. I hope I am wrong and this is just a one game glitch. At least Volpe seems to be hot with the bat. Not Wells, though.
for the new guys, I will stick with my thoughts from below. it is one game. i think there is a good possibility that today is the worst day any of them have in a Yankee uniform this season
i guess i would be making excuses if i mentioned that all of them were on a different team yesterday. I will say, I appreciate it a LOT that all of them found a way to get on a plane and get to the furthest SE corner of the country in one day or less when they are not required to be available for 72 hours
i am not trying to make excuses. they are professionals. part of the deal …
as I said below, I was out of town all day. some thoughts now that i watched the replay
first, now that I get to watch Bellinger every day, he is definitely in the argument for the best OF in the game!
i do not mean to belittle any GREAT OFers!!! but Bellinger is GG lever defender in all 3 OF positions!! how many other guys play a different spot every day and are not good, not great, but as good as anyone in the game at any of the 3 spots every day?? I ask literally. how many times has he even played the same position 2 games in a row?
second, watching him every day, Ryan McMahon makes…
