I don't think the Yankees can afford to trade MLB ready pitching. If they trade Rice, do they try to keep Bellinger? Goldschmidt might be doing okay and would be cheaper, but he isn't getting any younger.

they are perfectly free to trade Rice. he's a lefty-hitting DH and the third-string 1B as well as third-string catcher.

and yes, trading Rice would, as a matter of good practice and efficiency, involve keeping one or both of Bellinger and Goldschmidt.

but the larger truth is that the Yankees have, at long last, developed enough left-handed hitting and can spare Rice's good bat

Yanks postgame show gives Jazz's stats since coming back

and in case you do not remember, he looked REALLY TERRIBLE at the plate before getting hurt

31 games since his return 10 HR and 7 doubles. over 162 that is over 50 HR and 40ish doubles

.316 BA

1.026 OPS

VERY clearly he loves being a Yankee. if he keeps up something remotely close to this level for the rest of the 2025 season they should absolutely be talking to him about an extension before he goes into his walk year next year

Good debut by Cam I would have let him finished the 6th inning at least pitch count was low.

I'll get him going. "The injuries did Loaisiga in, he is finished and will never be a good pitcher again". Now he will pitch lights out for the rest of the year.

Cam Schlittler pitched better than his numbers. I can deal with all he gives them are a couple of solo shots. 7 Ks and 2 BB on 75 pitches over 5.1 IP, under 15 PPI
