With Dylan Cease having been traded to the San Diego Padres, it looks like some of the Yankee prospects are going to get a look at how they fare against big league hitters, for the first two months of the season.

What I have found with highly touted pitching prospects making their Major League debut is that they usually get off to a good start (like Jhony Brito, Luis Gil, and Randy Vazquez did) for their first two or three starts because the "advance scouts" from other teams haven't seen them yet. Therefore, a "book" hasn't been created on them yet for how hitters should approach them in order to exploit their weaknesses. Then, after being very effective for the…

good thought about spreading out the starts and limiting the kids' exposure

I tend to regard the team's pitching instructors as pretty good at turning mid-level prospects into mid-rotation starters.

if Cole missing only the first half of the season, they might manage.

the offense looks pretty solid

My previous comment on this post was probably better suited for the new "Cease to San Diego" post.

Sadly, most of the remaining available pitchers, outside of Snell and Montgomery come with significant baggage. For the same reason that the Yankees will NOT take back Domingo German, they also certainly would not take on Trevor Bauer or Julio Urias, both of whom are very much available, both of whom are very good, but both of whom have very similar baggage.

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
