The A-Rod Top 10 – #7

by Owen Hetherington

500th Career Home Run (August 4, 2007)

Alex Rodriguez entered the game sitting at 499 career home runs after going deep nine games before on July 25, 2007. It was taking a while for him to get #500.

In the bottom of the first inning against the Kansas City Royals, Rodriguez hit his 500th career home run to left field off Kyle Davies with runners on first and second. He was greeted at home plate and given a big hug by his teammate Derek Jeter, becoming the 22nd player in Major League history to hit 500 home runs.
