Passing Lou Gehrig on the All-Time Grand Slam List
(September 20, 2013)
After going 1-for-19 in his previous six games for the Yankees, Rodriguez stepped into the batter’s box to find himself in a bases loaded situation with the game tied at one run a piece against the San Francisco Giants in the bottom of the seventh inning.
On a 2-1 count against George Kontos, Rodriguez hit his 24th career grand slam to right-center field to tally on the Yankee’s final four runs of the ballgame in a 5-1 victory over the Giants. The big fly propelled Rodriguez to stand alone at the top of the all-time grand slam list, passing Yankee legend Lou Gehrig.
Rodriguez added the final grand slam of his career on August 18, 2015.
