it's a fair offer if you completely ignore the nearly $200M in excess value that Judge has already provided.

Curt Flood is on that list.

I didn't say the system was fair or right. I simply said that's the way it works because it is.

The players have fought it and made big gains.

That's how it works.

if the Yankees told Soto that they would give him $500M, his agent would tell the Yankees that two or three other teams were suggesting that they would not only pay more per season, for 20 seasons, but also provide his client with a castle on a private island and a fully staffed retirement home on the sunny side of the moon.

(best of luck on the show)

If the Yankees offer $500m and he turns them down, well, then, there's nothing we can do. They made a great offer.

I feel the same way with Judge. I wouldn't go 7 years. 6 years at $35m? $210m... that's more than fair. It's actually generous from my perspective. I wouldn't go more than that. If the Yankees make an offer like that, then they did what they could. We'd see how much he really wants to be a Yankee.

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
