Here is last night's Start Spreading the News Podcast. I had to pre-record this esisode so EJ isn't there and it's just me flying solo.
In this episode, I look at the 2024 Yankees position-by-position and then quiz the viewers on the 2009 Yankees roster. ENJOY!
Writing this as I'm still listening to the Podcast. First, Milwaukee needs arms & infielders. Any deal will start with Hampton, Selvidge, Peraza, & Rice. I find it funny that when trying to make deals not enough people know what the other team is really looking for.
As for the rotation, the key is Rondon. Can I get 30 GS out of him? Cortes & Schmidt will be just fine. I'd love to slot in Yamamoto as the #2. But can Blake & Co. figure out how to get less foul tips, and more put away pitches. Got tired of watching Cole being pulled after 5.1 IP, with 103 pitches.
The pen as of right now will start of with:…
CC, Burnett, Gardner, Melky, ARod, Posada, Cervelli, Ramiro Pena, Hinske, Godzilla, Pettitte, Burnett, Mo, DRob, Coke, Damon, Swisher, J. Molina. Gardner, J. Hairston, Hughes, Aceves, Bruney, Joba, Nady, Wang, Jeter, Tex, Cano.. all part of 2009 club. I think there were guys like Melancon, & Cody Ransom, Veres, who rode the SWB shuttle. I believe Chad Gqaudin was a trade pick up. Done as I'm listening to you now.
This will surprise (or make you sick of hearing), but I think Estevan Florial may beat out Grisham (who still has options). In only 100 games at SWB, he hit 28 Homer's and 25 SBs. He had an OBP of .380! and was a tremendous lead-off hitter. That computes to 45 HRs and 40 SBs in a full season. Start him in CF until Dominguez is back. If he struggles, the team can waive him. But it would a travesty to let him go and see him become a superstar.
When Jasson comes back, he can be part of a rotation if he produces or bench depth. If he can't do it, waive him.
Yanks sign Jeter!!!!
