The Tuesday Discussion (All Day Long) – My Favorite Home Run (Derek McAdam)

There is doubt in my mind that my favorite Yankees home run of all time is Greg Bird’s solo shot off Andrew Miller in the 2017 ALDS. The Yankees were fighting tooth and nail to keep the series alive, as they were down 2-0. With a loss, their season would be over. On a 1-1 count from Miller, Bird clubbed the ball into the right field seats to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. Matt Vasgersian’s call of “Swing and a drive to right… and that one’s gone” is definitely one of my favorite calls of all time. The Yankees had just traded Miller during the 2016 season for a haul including Justus Sheffield and Clint Frazier. Interestingly enough, they would win the game by that same score and go on to win the next two games to send them to Houston. Even though there are many other great home runs, this is my favorite home run that I watched live on tv.

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
