The Tuesday Discussion (All Day Long) – My Favorite Home Run (Patrick Gunn)
My favorite Yankees “home run” of all time has to be Derek Jeter’s questionable dinger in the 1996 Playoffs vs. the Orioles. It’s an iconic moment in both Jeter’s career and the team as a whole in their historic postseason run.
My favorite non-controversial Yankees’ home run is Mark Teixeira’s final home run. Yes, it was not a marquee playoff moment, but his walk-off grand slam not only prevented the rival Red Sox from celebrating a playoff birth in Yankees’ Stadium. It also allowed for a moment of closure, as one generation of Yankees said goodbye, bringing in a younger batch of Bombers to lead the way in the next season.
