The Tweet is actually very fun:

"Infielder Kevin Smith has a deal in place with the Yankees. The player posted on X a picture of a kid, presumably Smith himself, in Yankee gear. The picture came with the caption “Headed Home for 2024.” The client of The Bledsoe Agency was born and played high school ball in East Greenbush, New York."

Lifetime: .173, .215, .516. This has got to be a joke. My lifetime slash line is better than this guy. Cashman doing his thing. Pitiful.

yet another back-up infielder.

they've added three while subtracting one

given that they began with a slight surplus of infielders,

it gives rise to a couple of thoughts

one such is that they're thinking of splitting into two teams

I asked EJ on the SSTN Podcast (coming here at 2:00) if he thought the Yankees were preparing to deal an infielder...

It sure seems that way.

Or, they're just building depth, especially at Triple-A.

The Least Among Them.png

"This charming and meticulously researched book will remind you of baseball’s power to change and enrich lives far beyond the diamond."

—Jonathan Eig, New York Times best-selling author of Luckiest Man, Opening Day, and Ali: A Life

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
