Zack Britton’s Small Sample Size Strikeout Bonanza

As we all know, in the recent Cash-o-Meter update, I bemoaned Zack Britton’s lower strikeout rate in 2019. At the time he was at 6.7 K/9 versus 9.9 K/9 in 2016.

I am happy to announce that in his last three appearances, Britton has had 3 strikeouts in an inning, 2 strikeouts in ⅔ of an inning, and 2 strikeouts in an inning. That’s 7 strikeouts in his last 2 and ⅔ innings!

Previous to these three appearances, Britton had not had a strikeout in his last 6 appearances covering 4 innings in total.

I should also point out that Britton has not issued a walk in his last 6 appearances covering 7⅔ innings.

Let’s hope that this is the start of a trend and we’re seeing Britton begin to revert to being the elite reliever that he was for the Orioles in 2015 and 2016. If he is that guy again, the Yankees will be in great shape!

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
