  • Book Talk! - Sept. 26, 2024

*** Demarest Library 90 Hardenburgh Ave.Demarest, NJ 07627 201-768-8714 Join Dr. Paul Semendinger as he discusses the book he co-wrote with Roy White -  Roy White: From Compton to the Bronx .  He will use lessons taught from Roy White's life to showcase to others how to find success in their own lives today. About the Book A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness. Roy White played on the New York Yankees from 1965 through the 1979 season. Roy grew up on the tough streets of Compton and created a successful all-star baseball career playing alongside such greats as Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Whitey Ford, Thurman Munson, Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter, and many others. Today Roy White sits among the greatest all-time Yankees in most offensive categories. After his career with the Yankees, Roy White became a star in Japan playing for the Tokyo Giants and playing alongside the greatest Japanese player of all time Sadaharu Oh. Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White’s story, but it’s also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways. *** After a wonderful 32-year career in education,  Dr. Paul Semendinger  is now a fulltime author and part time college professor and is widely known for his knowledge of the history of baseball, specifically the New York Yankees. He is a member of the Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA), the Society of American Baseball Research (SABR), and is the Editor-in-Chief of the successful Yankees blog,  Start Spreading the News .

  • The Dr. Sem Yankees Show (7/26/25)

*** I'll discuss third base - why the Yankees' actions demonstrate that even they didn't think Jazz Chisholm was a third baseman, the good and the less-than-good about the Ryan McMahon trade, and then, my franchise changing idea for getting the Yankees to the top in 2025. Something big needs to be done, immediately, that can make the Yankees feared in October (and they also need someone to get them there). My move would require a franchise changing philosophy and a big change that would give the team instant respect.

  • The Dr. Sem (and SSTN) Yankees Show (2/14/26)

*** Staying positive on Valentine's Day!

  • Game 67: Yankees (40-26) vs Guardians (37-32)

Jones BENCHED for hitting HR! Did Volpe ruin it for everyone? When he came up he was handed the SS job for the year!! After his failures now Dominguez & Jones struggle to get playing time. I sympathize with Wells, but my headaches are caused by Volpe. Yankees starting 5 infielders and 2 outfielders. But they do have 3 OFers' bats in the lineup. Even with tomorrow off Yankees could use some innings by Rodon. Over / Under: Hits by Volpe, 1.5 YANKEES Goldschmidt, DH -- .281 (147) Rice, 1B -- .297 (178) Bellinger, LF -- .272 (136) Rosario, 3B -- .258 (115) Grisham, CF -- .227 (110) Caballero, RF -- .253 (98) Judge's Bat, 2B -- .231 (99) Volpe, SS -- .190 (72) Sanchez, C -- .000 (-100) Rodon, P -- 1-2, 2.88 GUARDIANS Martinez, RF -- .236 Ramirez, DH -- .241 Hoskins, 1B -- .193 Fry, LF -- .256 Bazzana, 2B -- .255 Fairchild, CF -- .125 Schneemann, 3B -- .233 Hedges, C -- .253 Rocchio, SS -- .280 Messick, P -- 6-2, 2.40 Game on YES and MLBN at 1 pm NEXT UP: Friday, June 12th, at 7:30 pm, at Toronto

  • Game 66: Yankees (39-26) vs Guardians (37-31)

    Tired 'pen? Yesterday Boone used the "kitchen sink" approach. Jones 1st MLB HR -- it will happen SOON!!! Very soon. Maybe this week. Maybe even today! En garde: Cole must be better than last start -- which was vs Guardians Volpe > Caby????? UGH!!! Over / Under: Number of Yankee relievers used tonight: 3.5 YANKEES Grisham, CF -- .227 (112) Rice, DH -- .304 (184) Goldschmidt, 1B -- .274 (145) Bellinger, LF -- .276 (138) Chisholm, 2B -- .230 (95) Jones, RF -- .250 (73) Volpe, SS -- .203 (84) McMahon, 3B -- .211 (77) Escarra, C -- .172 (34) Cole, P -- 1-1, 2.00 GUARDIANS Bazzana, 2B -- .263 Ramirez, 3B -- .238 DeLauter, RF -- .254 Manzardo, 1B -- .229 Hoskins, DH -- .191 Martinez, LF -- .232 Kwan, CF -- .216 Hedges, C -- .250 Rocchio, SS -- .284 Cecconi, P -- 3-5, 4.92 Game on Amazon Prime Video and TBS (not sure how that works) at 6:30 pm NEXT UP: Wednesday, June 10th, at 1 pm, at Cleveland.
